NU BLANK OE Abutment Technology
NU-BLANK is the result of the questions that NUCAP asks about the standard product specs for the brake industry - Why? & What if? Why does an OE disc brake backing plate need to incorporate a stamping process that is inherently more expensive and problematic than conventionally stamped products? What if you can obtain the required tolerances via a production method that allows for greater efficiency, better control, and is variable enough to create a better ratio for specs vs cost? With a substantial growth since NUCAP started manufacturing NU-BLANK plates, it seems that some of our customers agree.
Consistent profile
Similar to Fine Blanking, a NU-BLANK plate profile is stamped in a single “hit”, ensuring the consistency of the dimensions throughout the production run. Critical abutments on NU-BLANK parts are shaved to a minimum of 50%, and up to 100%, of the material gauge during the blanking process.

Fine blank specifications - conventionally stamped efficiency
The NU-BLANK technology enables NUCAP to provide plates that demonstrate all the expected qualities of Fine Blanked Plates - Flatness, Consistent Profile, and Accurate Abutment Tolerance - but with a rate of production that exceeds Fine Blanking.
